Smoller's mediumship abilities have created a fertile ground of study for ISPR to formulate new theories and understanding in the field. Smoller's abilities provide the opportunity for direct communication with an entity rather than relaying information. Her empathic abilities allows the Team to study the emotions and physical sensations displayed by an entity in real time. Smoller continues her apprenticeship in the scientific venue and handles a variety of mobile instrumentation during ISPR Investigations.

In addition to ISPR investigations, Smoller has conducted over a thousand field investigation studies, known internationally as Ghost Expeditions®. Outside of ISPR Investigations and GE's, she applies her expertise in marketing, advertising and promotions to bring general understanding of paranormal field research to the lay person. She has been a major contributor to the former ISPR Journal and now, ISPR.Net. Smoller has represented the ISPR in a steady stream of radio and television appearances since 1995. She is a published author and co-creator / producer on the award-winning ISPR Investigates: documentary series.

In New Orleans during the mid 1990's, Smoller's work was instrumental in establishing the reputation of New Orleans as 'one of the most haunted cities in America'. Her marketing of ISPR Ghost Expeditions® brought increased annual visitors to the Big Easy. In 1997 in Hollywood, she partnered with parapsychologist Dr. Larry Montz in the four-year restoration project (and paranormal study) of the Vogue Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard, part of the multi-billion dollar Hollywood Revitalization Project. Smoller's efforts made the Vogue Theatre a sought after filming location and screening venue for Indy filmmakers and high profile Film Festivals, as well establishing it's haunted status internationally (seven resident entities).

Outside of the ISPR, Smoller continues her freelance business, Sixty Second Stories (established in 1984); creating marketing plans and advertising (radio, television and print) and providing voice-overs for commercials and on-hold services. Her clients span from a major motion picture studio to auto dealerships and realty companies.

Smoller resides in Southern California.
